The Marigold Movement

Skilled farmers use a technique called companion planting and marigolds are known as one of the best companion plants as they promote the growth of the plant they’re next to!

Our Marigold vision is to support and equip families with skills and tools to become rooted in educational freedom with a mission to partner, plant, and cultivate growth through connection.

We’re creating a community of marigolds helping one another not only grow, but thrive!

Frequently Asked Questions

Find out what you need to know...

Q: Where can I find the legal homeschooling requirements for my state?
A: Homeschool Legal Defense Association is a great resource and lists all state requirements and regulations!
Q: When can I start homeschooling?
A: Typically you can withdraw your student from public school at any time and start homeschooling! Check with HSLDA.org and become familiar with your specific state requirements. We have created a Sample Withdrawal Letter as a resource for you!
Q: I’m afraid I won’t be able to afford homeschooling.
A: This is a common concern. The cost of homeschooling is dependent upon your design. We suggest trying free or low cost programs until you find what works best for you and your family. There are also grants available to qualifying families.
Q: What’s the best way to search for a curriculum?
A: We suggest determining your and your child’s learning style and becoming familiar with the different types of homeschooling styles as well. We’ve created the 6 Homeschool Styles and 8 Learning Styles resources for you.
Q: How will I know what curriculum is the right curriculum based on my child’s skills?
A: Most homeschool curriculums are identified by levels not grades and most are accompanied with a levels assessment that will help you determine the appropriate level. Make sure you pay attention to this as levels don’t always translate to grades in homeschool curriculums. For example, L3 may not be for grade 3 students, it depends on the specific curriculum and how it’s written.
Q: How will I know if I’m staying on track with state requirements or if my child is learning the right material?
A: If you are interested in following the state standards, you can find all state requirements here!
Q: How many hours a day should I be homeschooling?
A: The instruction time is dependent on your education design and student’s age. Research suggests: 1-2 hours for Elementary 2-3 hours for Middle School 3-4 hours for High School
Q: What type of schedule do I follow for homeschooling?
A: This is dependent on your Homeschool style, Learning style and Educational Design & Philosophy. Some families like to follow a more regimented schedule while others prefer less structure. If you’d like to use a Schedule we’ve created one for you!
Q: Should I join a homeschool group?
A: We strongly suggest getting plugged into the homeschooling community! Luckily, there are several ways to connect! Home Tribe is an excellent place to search for resources. Social Media is another great place to connect with local and non-local community groups!
Q: What about parental support?
A: Yes, parent support is imperative! Marigold Group Coaching is a great way to connect with homeschooling families and receive social, emotional and educational support for parents.
